1. Parties and Scope
This End User License Agreement ("Agreement") is between you ("User") and Bunyan Software ("we", "us", "our"), based in British Columbia, Canada. This Agreement governs your use of LogScanner and LogMaster (the "Apps") regardless of where in the world you are located.
Where local consumer protection laws provide rights that cannot be waived by contract, those rights are not affected by this Agreement.
2. License Grant
Subject to your compliance with this Agreement and payment of applicable subscription fees, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Apps on Apple devices you own or control, solely for your personal or internal business purposes. This license does not include any right to sublicense, resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Apps.
3. Subscription Terms
Plans and Pricing
The Apps are available on monthly and annual subscription plans. Current pricing is displayed in the Apple App Store at the time of purchase.
Billing and Renewal
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID upon confirmation and at each renewal
- You will receive notice of any price changes before they take effect
Cancellation and Refunds
- Cancel any time through your Apple ID account settings
- You retain access until the end of the current billing period
- Refunds are handled by Apple per their refund policy and applicable consumer law
- Statutory withdrawal rights (e.g. 14-day EU cooling-off period) are not affected
4. Apple App Store Terms
The Apps are distributed through the Apple App Store and are also subject to Apple's standard EULA. Bunyan Software, not Apple, is solely responsible for the Apps and their content.
5. Permitted and Prohibited Uses
Permitted Uses
- Scanning logs for measurement, yield estimation, and planning
- Generating log scaling estimates for your own operations
- Exporting data (PDF, CSV, 3D files) for your own records or business use
- Using the Apps across your personal devices on the same Apple ID
Prohibited Uses
- Reverse engineering, decompiling, or disassembling the Apps
- Modifying or creating derivative works based on the Apps
- Removing proprietary notices from within the Apps
- Using the Apps for any unlawful purpose
- Reselling or sublicensing the Apps or providing commercial access to third parties
- Using automated tools to extract data from the Apps
6. Intellectual Property
The Apps and all related software, algorithms, interfaces, and content are the exclusive property of Bunyan Software, protected by Canadian copyright law and applicable international treaties. Nothing in this Agreement transfers any ownership rights to you.
7. User Data
All scan data, measurements, and exported files you create are your data, stored locally on your device. Bunyan Software never accesses this data. You retain full ownership and responsibility. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
8. Measurement Accuracy & Limitations
What the Apps Measure
LogScanner uses your iPhone's LiDAR sensor to capture log geometry and calculate:
- Diameter — small end, large end, and mid-log cross-section
- Length — full log length from a single scan
- Taper — calculated from end-to-end diameter difference
- Board Feet Yield — Doyle, Scribner, or International log scaling rules
Factors That Affect Accuracy
- Hardware sensor tolerances (typically ±1–2% under optimal conditions — real-world accuracy may differ)
- Lighting conditions — low light and harsh direct sunlight both reduce accuracy
- Log surface conditions — bark, moss, moisture, ice, or debris
- Scanning technique — distance, speed, angle, and completeness of coverage
- Log geometry — heavily fluted or forked logs scan less precisely
- Log Defects — surface defects are not treated differently than regular geometry
- Dirty or black surfaces — aritifical obsturctions or black patches create issues with the vision feedback systems
Log Yield Estimates
Board feet figures are approximations and do not account for sawing variation, blade kerf, drying shrinkage, or mill-specific factors. They should not be used as the sole basis for commercial timber transactions.

- Estimating yield before detailed scaling
- Comparing relative log sizes and quality in a pile
- Personal sawmill planning and yield estimation
- Record-keeping and inventory tracking
Requires Independent Verification
- Commercial timber or lumber purchase or sale contracts
- Insurance valuations or claims
- Legal or regulatory compliance determinations
- Structural or safety-critical applications
- Any purpose where certified measurement is legally required

This Agreement is governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada. EU and UK consumers may also rely on mandatory consumer protection laws of their country and bring proceedings in local courts. EU dispute resolution: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr/.
13. General
- This Agreement is the entire agreement between you and Bunyan Software regarding the Apps
- If any provision is unenforceable, remaining provisions stay in effect
- We may update this Agreement with notice; continued use constitutes acceptance
- You may not assign this Agreement without our prior written consent
- The English version governs where a translation is provided
