Bunyan Software ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, your rights, and how to contact us. It applies to LogScanner and LogMaster (the "Apps").

1. Data Controller

The data controller is Bunyan Software, based in British Columbia, Canada. Contact us via the Support page.

2. What Information We Collect

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

All user-generated content is stored locally on your device and is never accessible to Bunyan Software, including:

  • 3D scan data captured using your device's LiDAR sensor
  • Measurement results, log yield calculations, and assessments
  • User-created reports and project files
  • App configuration and preferences

Bunyan Software has no access to this data. It never leaves your device unless you choose to export it.

Data Collected by Apple

As our App Store and payment partner, Apple collects app download records, subscription and payment records, and crash reports (if enabled in your device settings). Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data We Collect Directly

  • Your email address if you contact us for support
  • Your subscription status via Apple's StoreKit framework
  • Aggregate anonymised usage statistics if you opt in via Apple's analytics — no personally identifiable information

3. Legal Basis for Processing

  • Contract performance — processing to provide the Apps and manage your subscription
  • Legitimate interests — aggregate analytics to improve the Apps
  • Legal obligation — retaining records as required by law
  • Consent — where applicable, you may withdraw at any time

4. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Apps
  • To process and manage your subscription
  • To respond to support requests
  • To comply with legal obligations
  • To detect and prevent fraud or abuse

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information for marketing purposes. We do not use your data to train AI or machine learning models.

5. Data Sharing & International Transfers

  • Apple Inc. — as our App Store and payment partner
  • Legal authorities — where required by applicable law
  • Business successors — in the event of a merger or acquisition, with appropriate notice

Bunyan Software does not operate servers outside Canada that process your personal data. For EU/UK users, Apple participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

6. Data Retention

  • Support correspondence — up to 3 years after last interaction
  • Subscription records — as required by Canadian tax law (generally 7 years)
  • Analytics — aggregated and anonymised; no individual retention limits

7. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. All scan data remains on your device. In the event of a data breach we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by law.

9. Children's Privacy

The Apps are not directed to children under 16 (under 13 in the US). Contact us if you believe a child has provided us with personal data and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. For material changes we will update the effective date and notify you via the Apps or App Store listing.
